Projects
RAWMARSH VOLUNTEER EXCHANGE The project, which is funded by Coalfields Regeneration Trust, began in January 2009 and focuses on working with people living in the Rawmarsh area who want to become involved in volunteering.People of all ages and backgrounds choose to volunteer and do so for all sorts of reasons.
• Some feel a little isolated and have lots of time to spare and volunteer in order to meet people and make new friends.
• Others want to learn new skills or develop existing skills, often with a view to using those skills in future employment.
• Some people want to help others in their community and become involved in local activities and projects.
• Volunteering gives the opportunity to gain qualifications in order to compete more effectively in the jobs market.
• Some people volunteer in order to keep fit and active. If you are thinking about volunteering, Jan Brooks, the Volunteer and Training Development Worker will help you through the process of finding a volunteer placement to suit your needs and then continue to offer support throughout your time as a volunteer. This will include identifying and arranging any free training which would assist you in carrying out your volunteering role and regular reviews throughout your placement.
There are a variety of volunteering opportunities available, ranging from helping in local schools or children’s activities/clubs, assisting in lunch clubs for older people, gardening, helping to produce a pantomime, administration work or helping out at a local event. Please telephone Jan Brooks on 01709 719478 for further information or e-mail rawmarshvolunteer @hotmail.co.uk
